Our first Spring Market has come and gone and we now have this incredible jumping off point. Our hope was to start small and build up to summer, autumn, and finish off the year with a beautifully developed Winter Market. A little rain dampered our hopes on May, 11… but a rescheduled Spring Market saw about 1,000 people, and 21 vendors. How incredible that people from all around central Arkansas came to shop, dine, imbibe, and dance at our little corner?
So, we’re building on that foundation. More than ever, the idea of being a jumping-off-place for small businesses, while simultaneously supporting “Green” development in our city seems attainable.
Local Artist and muralist, Jessica Jones, sponsored a community Art Project in which citizens of Conway were invited to participate in a floral coloring book of sorts, our photo booth was sponsored by Secret Garden Bouquets, who put together the most beautiful backdrop of paper flowers we’ve seen to date. Our cast of volunteers were made up of some of the most wonderful guests-turned-friends we’ve ever met, and our arches which frame the entrance to each WunderMarket were beautifully decorated by the most incredibly kind and giving individuals.
A special “Thank You” goes out to Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre, who spearheaded (see what I did there) our live performances… and to Jessica Angel, an angel in human form, who worked tirelessly to make sure that all our ducks were in a row.
As Spring Market passes, we look forward to expanding the vision for the Wundermarkets, and to Summer Market – a family friendly event which will feature some of Conway’s finest musicians, storytellers, crafters, artisans, and farmers. We cannot wait to share this occasion with all of you!
